This
my Mom and Step Dad Bob Pietsch. The picture was scanned from my wallet so it's
a little bit grainy. Mom and Granpa Bob as he is affectionately known live in
Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Bob was a Marine (Semper Fi) during the Vietnam war. He
and Mom met at the VAMC in Tampa, Florida when my Mom worked there as a nurse.
They married in 1990 and it's a shame really a grown man like me having to crash
their first week of wedded bliss. At the time I had no where else to stay and
living in a hotel while I was waiting for surgery on my knee was cost
prohibitive. I surely was not going to stay with the ex-wife so I chose my
moms place. I tore my ligament going down the ladder to the Pursers office on
the USNS TALUGA and was declared unfit for duty at that time. I actually had the
surgery in August of that year at the Bonati Orthopedic Institute in Hudson,
Florida. I was up and walking around in time to be sent to the Walter S Diehl in
Sasebo Japan. This was the ship I was on during Desert Storm and the ship that
took me to the Philippines where I formally met my wife Sally for the first
time.
